Institute of Research and Community Services (LPPM) Palangka Raya University was formed in 1973. Initially, it was known as Institute of Community Services (LPKM) and joined the Institute of Research Palangka Raya University which was named Scientific Center for Regional Development (PIPD). In August 1979 PIPD was changed to Institute of Research and Community Services (LPPM) based on the letter from Presidium of UNPAR Number 112/PT.31.1/C/V/1979.
Based on the Government Decree Number 5 of 1980 about the Organizational Structure of State University/Institute in Indonesia through Ministerial Letter Number 0153/O/1983, dated March 5, 1983 LPPM was separated into Research Center and Community Service Center. The name of Community Service Center was changed into Institute of Community Services (LPKM) in 1994, based on the decree of Minister of Education and Culture Number 098/O/1993 dated February 27, 1993 about the organization and work procedure in UNPAR and based on the decree of Rectors Number 812/PT.31.H/C/VI/94 dated December 12, 1994.
In 2007, Research Centre and Institute of Community Services (LPKM) was merged and named as Institute of Research and Community Services (LPPM)
