Wednesday, 22nd September 2021. LPPM Palangka Raya University held a national webinar entitled “Education and Rural Development with National Insight.” The theme of this webinar is “Becoming an Excellent Student that has Love to Homeland.” This webinar is a follow-up event for the participants of KKN Period I 2021 who have completed their services in the community. The webinar was started by listening to the remarks of the President of the Republic of Indonesia at the Indonesian State University Chancellor’s Assembly Meeting.
The head of LPPM, Dr. Ir. Aswin Usup, M.Sc, in his speech said that this webinar could foster the students’ love for the Indonesian homeland. In the KKN Thematic 2021, the students have contributed to helping the communities experiencing floods in the flooded area, conducted stunting prevention campaigns, food security programs, PAUD development, development of village administration, and village website. The head of LPPM also hopes that Palangka Raya University could be in the same position as the other leading Universities in Indonesia.
The webinar was opened by the Chancellor of Palangka Raya University, represented by Vice-Chancellor of Academic, Prof. Salampak MS. In his speech, the Vice-Chancellor of Academics stated that the young generation plays an important role in the development of the country. Therefore, it is necessary to prepare the young generation to have strong character, high courage, the spirit of nationalism, a competitive spirit, and the ability to understand the technology so they can compete globally. Building a village as one of the KKN activities could increase the student’s spirit of nationalism.
The webinar invited three speakers, namely Marsekal Muda TNI Achmad Sajili served as the expert staff of the Coordination Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs for National Resilience with the theme “The importance of Having the Spirit of Nationalism for Students.” The second speaker is Dr. Willy Midel Yoseph, M.M served as a member of DPR RI from Central Kalimantan Electoral District with the theme “Becoming the Scholar for Driving the Village Development.” The third speaker is r. Drs. Adrianus Asia Sidot, M.Si served as the member of DPR RI from commission 10 West Kalimantan Electoral District with the theme “The role of students in Supporting the National Education Policy.”
